Copper Rod Breakdown Drawing Machine
1. General description:
Copper rod breakdown machine is a specialized piece of equipment
used in the wire and cable manufacturing industry. Its primary
function is to reduce the diameter of copper rods or other metal
rods to produce wires of smaller diameters. This process is known
as wire drawing or wire drawing breakdown.
Here's a breakdown of how a copper rod breakdown machine typically
works:
Feeding: Copper rods, usually produced through processes like
casting or extrusion, are fed into the machine. These rods are
often in the form of coils or straight lengths.
Drawing Dies: The rods pass through a series of drawing dies, which
are usually made of tungsten carbide or diamond. These dies have
progressively smaller diameters, and as the rods are pulled through
them, they are elongated and reduced in diameter. This reduction in
diameter is achieved through the application of pulling force
exerted by a capstan or similar mechanism.
Cooling and Lubrication: To reduce friction and heat generated
during the drawing process, the rods may be cooled and lubricated.
Cooling can be achieved through water or air cooling systems, while
lubrication helps reduce wear on the dies and improves the quality
of the drawn wire.
Multiple Passes: Depending on the desired final diameter of the
wire, the process may involve multiple passes through different
sets of drawing dies, each with slightly smaller diameters. This
allows for precise control over the wire diameter and ensures
uniformity.
Final Product: The result is a copper wire of the desired diameter.
This wire can then be further processed if necessary, such as
annealing to relieve stresses, or it can be wound onto spools for
storage and distribution.
Copper rod breakdown machines are essential in the production of
various types of wires used in electrical applications,
telecommunications, construction, and many other industries where
conductive wire is required. The efficiency and precision of these
machines play a crucial role in determining the quality and
reliability of the final wire products.

3. Brier introduction:
3.1 Payoff stand:
Type: cantilever type
Payoff stand consists of column, cantilever and steering roller.
Height of the column is 5000mm or so. The two aluminum reels can
achieve continuous pay off.
3.2 Main drawing machine:
Type: slip type. 13-die copper wire drawing machine with drawing
blocks of the same diameter
The machine consists of trough for cooling and circulation of
drawing emulsion, gearbox, lubrication system, constant speed
wheel, main motor and the motor for the constant speed wheel.
Four clip-and-run switches for die stringing by clip-and-run
operation. Device to prevent the drawing block and drawing die
holder extend identical distance from the body of gearbox.
Drawing blocks adopt steel wheels. Its surface is covered by
tungsten carbide to prolong its use life.
